چکیده
BACKGROUND Trauma is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in young adults. Risk stratification these patients remains challenging even today. There a need for readily available simple prognostic method to categorise predict morbidity. We intend measure correlate red cell distribution width total leucocyte count presenting with trauma, within 24 hours injury, outcome. METHODS included 52 haemodynamically stable, previously healthy, trauma who were admitted from November 2019 April 2020, did not require emergency surgery analysed them prospectively. Complete blood picture obtained injury was terms correlation The outcome measured length hospital stay. Correlations performed Pearson coefficient. RESULTS statistically significant between (TLC) stay (P < 0.001). positive found (RDW) significant. analysis showed that high done increased patients’ hospital. CONCLUSIONS TLC RDW can be used as markers, an adjunct early prediction higher trauma. KEY WORDS Injuries, Polytrauma, Blood Cell Count, Leucocytosis, Red Indices

Prognostic Validity of Red Cell Distribution Width in Neonatal Sepsis
Background Neonatal sepsis is one of the most critical illness in neonates that is responsible for a great proportion of morbidity and mortality in neonates so early diagnosis and identification of high risk cases is a challenging aim of our study. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of red cell distribution width (RDW), in neonatal sepsis at the time of admission ...
متن کاملInvestigating the Relationship between Red Blood Cell Distribution Width and Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer and Colonic Polyps
Background: Colorectal cancer is a common cancer and has a high rate of mortality and morbidity. This can be reduced by screening tests. Some of the studies have recently referred to Red Cell Distribution Width (RDW) as a marker for early detection of various cancers. The aim of this study was to investigate the RDW and early detection of colorectal cancer and polyp. M...
متن کاملRed blood cell distribution width in patients with limb, chest and head trauma
INTRODUCTION This study investigated the values of red blood cell distribution width (RDW), an emerging and independent predictor of morbidity and mortality, in patients with limb, chest and head trauma. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study sample consisted of all patients who attended the emergency department (ED) of the University Hospital of Parma for limb, chest and head traumas requiring admis...
متن کاملDiagnostic values of red cell distribution width, platelet distribution width and neutrophil-lymphocyte count ratio for sepsis.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of red blood cell distribution width (RDW), platelet distribution width (PDW), the neutrophil-lymphocyte count ratio (NLCR), procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) for the prediction of sepsis. A total of 120 consecutive patients who underwent blood culture testing were included. The PCT and CRP levels, and RDW, PDW and N...
متن کاملHyperglycemia and Red Cell Distribution Width for Prediction of Mortality in Preschool Children with Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP)
Background Community acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a major infectious cause of mortality in preschool children especially in developing countries. Red Cell Distribution Width (RDW) has been associated with poor outcomes of CAP. We aimed to determine whether admission stress hyperglycemia and RDW can predict mortality in preschool children with CAP for early identification of patients at risk of ...
